Melvin H. McCaslin

Melvin H. McCaslin, 93, of Arnold, Missouri, formerly of Elkville, passed away at 6:03 P.M., Monday, December 9, 2002 at the St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Melvin was a retired mechanic with the Elverado School District and had also worked at Tuck Tape of Carbondale and Truex Trarer Coal Mine for fifteen years.  He was a member of Elkville Methodist Church.  He was a US Army veteran of W.W. II.
He was born June 8, 1909, at Ramsey, IL, the son of Bert H. and Berrie Ellen (Hicks) McCaslin.
He married Maxine (Burns) Smith on July 5, 1941 at Cape Girardeau, Missouri and she preceded him in death on April 12, 1994.
He is survived by one daughter - Bonnie McClintock of Arnold, MO, grandchildren - Barry McClintock, Jason McClintock, Dennis McCaslin, Steven McCaslin, Kevin McCaslin, Cynthia Watson, Claudia Winstanley and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Melvin B.J. McCaslin, and two sisters.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 12, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Bro. Jerry Aken officiating.
Friends called from 12 to 1 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Elkville Cemetery in Elkville.
Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Fund or American Lung Association.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin VFW Post 513.
